Our site offers a wealth of information about our Society and astronomy. Here are a few tips about navigating our web site. We hope you enjoy your visit. We would like to hear from you if you have any comments. Please send us an email.

Navigating the site

The orange bar on the left lists the main sections of the site. Click on any item you are interested in. There is a directory-style navigator in the horizontal orange strip above. This shows you where you are on our website and provides an easy way to navigate back to our homepage.

We have a link to Amazon.co.uk on every page. We are member of their Associates programme which means they pay us when you buy something from Amazon.co.uk. So if you would like to support us, please click through our Amazon.co.uk link before you buy an item from them!

Sections

We have the latest news about the Society on our Home page. Older news stories are kept in our News archive and Society archive, which contains a wealth of information about the Society's activities over the years. You can find out about the building of our observatory, our newsletter history and our 20th anniversary, which we celebrated in 2001.

Our monthly Newsletter is called Cygnus. Most of our members read the newsletter online in PDF format. Non-members can read our 20th anniversary edition in the Society Archive.

We have a forum which is where you can meet members of the Society and talk in our discussion forum.

We have a number of pages telling you information about the Society. You can read an introduction about us, see our meeting Calendar, find out where we are located and who is in charge!.

We have an extensive Image gallery containing pictures taken by members divided into different astronomical categories.

You can find out about our Observatory which is available for for both members and public outreach. We have a programme of observing for beginners and observing projects in our Observing page.

If you are not a member but are interested in visiting us to see if you would like to become a member, please click on the Join us link to send us some details about you.

We have a small section devoted to telling you what is going on in the skies this month. We have a Sky almanac which contain the current month's sky chart, details of the Moon's phases and what planets you can see. We have more detailed planet information too. We have Deep sky highlights which are updated quarterly and the all important weather reports!

We maintain a section with lots of links to our favourite sites on the web.

Our members have access to a restricted area which contains even more information about Society activities, news, the contents of our extensive library, classified adverts and more!

Finally, you can search our site and drop us an Email.
