Wycombe Astronomical Society (WAS) is committed to the protection of the privacy of it's users. Below is information about how WAS handles consumer details.

When you visit the WAS website, we collect your IP (Internet protocol) address, a unique number assigned to every computer on the Internet and/or domain name. This information can be used to infer geographic location.

We have usage statistics software which can show the number of hits, files, KBytes and visits you have made. We use this software to track what parts of the website are visited most regularly, to identify problems with the website and to track logins to the site by members. None of this information can be used to personally identify you.

If you choose to register and create an account on our forum, then a cookie will be set on your PC which contains information required by the board software, phpBB. This information is used to log you in automatically, maintain your login for 1 hour. A cookie is a unique number that is provided to you to enhance you internet experience by allowing, amongst other things, automatic login to the forum. A cookie is required to use the forum but you are free to delete the cookie manually. Your web browser's documentation will assist you.
