 Clusters
Single DSLR 45 sec. frame at 400iso. Trying out a new scope. As ever, a lot to learn!

A good first attempt Pat, considering it was only one frame and with very little processing.

You have been busy this week David. A nice collection of clusters - Jan

Constellations Cassiopeia, Perseus and Andromeda (incl M31) with Milky Way struggling to be seen through bad light pollution. Canon EOS450 with zoom lens at 17mm setting on HEQ5 mount. 90sec exposures. David Godwin

Considering you have the light pollution it is still easy to see the Milky Way. Are you pleased with the new camera? I guess it is good to have the live view.

Hi Jan, I am very pleased with my new camera. After I took this image I dropped it 3 ft onto a concrete patio and it still works well. The live view feature is very useful, but when I use the camera without a telescope I just focus the lens on infinity beforehand. David

Super! Lots of nebulosity. It seems a little green rather than the traditional blue, is this the effect of the filter?
Also is this guided?
Chris

Hi Chris. I guess you are right and the light pollution filter is producing a colour cast. Haven’t got round to guiding yet but HPQ-5 mount seems ok for 2min exs. Also used Gradient Terminator trial from S at N CD-ROM. David

I like the way you've presented these images David - good idea.

That's really nice, it shows the nebulosity very well.

I have just seen this image David. I am really impressed by it.

This is an interesting image. Are the blue dots hot pixels, and are the other colours being yellow and almost orange in colour different categories of stars or are they more hot pixels? The nebulosity is definitely noticeable. It sounds very difficult to process these. Is Iris like Registax?
